Recently, the reporter got information from Municipal science and technology bureau. It is learned that, in 2011, our city has been granted 1378 projects for the science and technology plan above provincial level, including 176 national projects for science and technology, and the number of the granted project is more than former years’. Our city has been granted RMB 254 million as project funding above provincial level, 55.12% of which is RMB 140 million funds for national project. That is the first time that the funds for national project have surpassed that for provincial project. Last year, our city made breakthrough in the major project for science and technology, and our city won the title of National Science and Technology Advanced City for four successive times for eight years. The provincial science and technology authority and Yangzhou government established a consultation mechanism of the provincial authority and Yangzhou government, and they determined the priorities of future work. The projects granted last year include 2 projects of National 863 Plan, 3 National Technology Support Projects, 22 projects for National SME Technology Innovation Fund, 8 projects for provincial major science and technology conversion funds, and 36 projects for provincial science and technology support plan.

It is informed that, the above projects are focused on emerging industry and pillar industry of our city, e.g. solar cell technology and pilot line development project of Jiangsu Zhongxian Group Co., Ltd, and the development project of industrialization preparation of high efficiency white light LED extension chip of YANGZHOU ZHONGKE SEMICONDUCTOR LIGHTING CO., LTD. have been granted RMB 24.73 million from National 863 Plan; huge indoor space and high light flux LED light fitting development of SFT have been granted RMB 6.19 million from National Technology Support Project; for numerical control and metal plate processing equipment, Yawei share, Yangzhou Metalforming Machinery Zimmer Co., Ltd., and Yangli Group have been granted provincial major science and technology conversion funds of RMB 31 million.

It is informed that, high-level talents leading national project for science and technology shall be listed, and 35 talents have been selected in Provincial “Double Innovative Talents Plan”, and 32 talents have been selected in Enterprise Ph.D. Concentration Program. In addition, 6 scientific research achievements have won second-class National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and 16 of that have won Provincial Science and Technology Award, both of which achieve the history best level.
